01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

In Tamachi's bustling Keio Nakadori neighborhood, Torichizu makes a dependable gathering spot for exploring chicken in many guises. A reliable choice to start the table is the signature hiden kawa kushi, featuring crispy chicken skin skewers coated in a sweet-and-savory tare sauce and dusted with a spicy house seasoning blend that naturally encourages another sip. Equally central to the lineup is the house bone-in chicken (hiden no honetsukidori), roasted until the skin crisps up nicely while keeping the meat juicy inside, with spice levels ranging from the peppery standard profile to spicy and fiery extremes.

Beyond the flagship skewers, the kitchen works chicken into small sharing plates and fried dishes. A chicken prosciutto Caesar salad trades pork bacon for uncured chicken ham, while deep-fried yamatouimo yam wrapped in seaweed adds a chewy texture fragrant with the sea. Diners can also contrast cooking styles across the menu, from massive fried karaage marinated in more than ten spices to Imabari-style yakitori pressed and grilled on a flat-top teppan.

As the evening winds down, broths simmered long and low from chicken bones make satisfying finales. The mizutaki hot pot, prepared without artificial flavorings, can be stretched with additional broth and finished with rice for porridge or noodles. For individual portions, the tori paitan ramen pairs a rich, creamy white chicken broth with wood-ear mushrooms, sliced poultry, and springy Chinese noodles.

Fresh-squeezed lemon sours and high-carbonation highballs keep drink costs manageable, alongside large-format cylinder dispensers and all-you-can-drink or all-you-can-eat plans that suit festive group meals. With midday set lunches on offer and Friday service running until 4:00 the following morning, it proves handy for everything from a quick lunch to late-night drinking.
